Hello and Welcome
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Wingara Thoroughbreds.
Thoroughbred racehorses have always been a passion of mine, from a young child growing up in Deniliquin, New South Wales. With our family breeding and racing a small team, it enabled that passion to grow and develop to where it is today, introducing our wonderful facility here at Wingara in Willowmavin, Kilmore, Victoria.
From those early days in the Riverina, to racing with family and friends. Starting O’Donnell Thoroughbreds back in 1995, to not long after the birth of OTI. All this time, staying hands on with my horse involvement here at Wingara. These experiences have given me the opportunity to continually expand my knowledge and the one thing that stands out in all of these journeys, in Australia and across the globe, is the first priority must always be the horse. This is the exact philosophy we enact here at Wingara. We endeavour to give our clients and their horses the best chance of race track success through the services we offer and how we deliver them.
I welcome you to read about our services and look forward to being of assistance to you at some time over your racing journey.
FOUNDATIONS FOR THE FUTURE
Simon O’Donnell founded Wingara Thoroughbreds in 1995. Initially providing agistment and spelling services, the property has now evolved into an operation that consists of Breaking, Spelling, Pre-Training and Ready to Run preparation based in the renowned horse district of Willowmavin near Kilmore in Victoria. Wingara Thoroughbreds is on 200 acres of rolling hills and stunning scenery which was originally an old trotting property.
The Company philosophy is simple, in preparing horses at all times we aim to have your horse healthy, happy, both physically and mentally to give you their owners the best possible chance of race track success. To this measure Wingara Thoroughbreds has been enormously successful over the journey and has a long list of graduates that have gone onto successful race careers through many stables in both Melbourne and Sydney.
Bronwen started on the team at Wingara Thoroughbreds back in 2000. She has been an integral member of the team, progressing very quickly to a managerial role, and to now being head of all operations at Wingara Thoroughbreds, a position she has held for over 15 years.
Bronwen hails from a family background steeped in horse history, with many members of her family dedicated to the industry. She has inherited this love of horses and has dedicated her life to mastering her horsemanship. She has shown an enormous capacity not only to continually update and expand her thoroughbred knowledge, but also has become a first class communicator. This is showcased by the retention of core staff which have worked with Bronwen over many years at the Kilmore operation of Wingara Thoroughbreds.
