Instilling the foundations for tomorrow’s champions
We have spent the last four years building our brand within the Ready to Run market. The preparation of young thoroughbreds into well balanced race horses, fits well into the everyday operations at Wingara Thoroughbreds. The Team takes pride in instilling virtues into the horses that will help them throughout their racing careers and beyond.
The Ready To Run preparation provides a particular challenge, as our team has to take the horse from its breaking education period, right through to the sales auction ring within an eight or nine month period. The goal of the preparation is to provide a solid foundation to ensure the horse has the basics to help them perform to their potential.
We believe that this market is one that will continue to develop both overseas and here in Australia and Wingara Thoroughbreds are at the forefront of that development and helping create a significant place on the racing landscape for the Ready 2 Run sales each year.

Ready to Run 2017
Our 2017 Ready To Run draft is looking a lot smaller than the 13 horses we took to Sydney for last year’s sales. The yearlings sales around the country have been extremely well patronised by both Australian and international buyers and with such a hot market it has been very difficult to stay within a buying range that we believe is suitable for the Australian Ready To Run market.
We have attended all major sales throughout the country and at this stage, we have three young thoroughbreds that will be raising the flag for Wingara Thoroughbreds, at the Inglis 2017 Ready 2 Run Sale. All three have now concluding their breaking and education period, their first major step on the road to this year’s sale. They will now enjoy a 3-4 week break before resuming light exercise during the winter months here at Wingara Thoroughbreds. All in all, we are really pleased with the three colts and how they have settled into all that has been asked of them. We will be attending the Scone Yearling Sale next week to hopefully add to our draft. We will update you on further news as we get closer to the Ready 2 Run Sales of 2017.
